Hi All, Yes i am a Fan and while i always speak positive of AG in public i figure i can really say what i want behind closed doors with his real fans . The last time a openly did a little critique on AG he slammed me good , but I'm the kinda guy who just won't stay down ( sucker for punishment i guess ) . I was at AG;s web site and played the top 3 tunes which i believe are from his New CD. The New one really let me down , its was like Back to the Blues went to far and he accidentally stopped at the Bible Belt for this track . I know artists create what is strong to them at the moment of creation, but in all truth i wouldn't accept a painting from Picasso of a pickup truck when i know he can do far better. In My opinion AG is a very talented guitarist and song writer with a incredible on stage persona. Most of his other Music work ( measured by CD ), all most all of them had EXtreme heart and Soul and real passion . I just don't hear the passion in the new one at all . Now the madness is , i will purchase the CD because i want to support his drive and help him to survive until the next heart felt moment when he puts out his all time master piece and 1,000 more tours LOL... Hey AG we Love Ya, Pump That Funk Baby Al The Only English Quebec'R left The above is just an opinion but i do have a Complaint , I wish he would sell the all his CD's in MP3 version's . I don't support that other company that uses Asian people and pays them peanuts to survive.... Buy Canadian-USA and European people....keep the FREE world FREE............... Ohhh and AG where's my MP3 option for the NEW CD ( dam $ 10.00 delivery fee )

dude. the cool thing about the forum is that everyone can speak their mind. i think your post is crazy. have you been listening to the same ag that i have been? going down slow, last bluesman gone and the entire sweet stringing soul album are all bible belt type songs. which is called gospel, in case you didn't know. i love his electric stuff the best but lady soul is killing me. it is righteous. maybe you should come down south to the good ol' usa and hear some gospel.

Nutz, I totally disagree with your review. My favorite Gomes music is his gospel and acoustic stuff. I couldn't be happier. Just because something is understated does not mean that it lacks passion or intensity.

I love the Stones but there are songs or CD's I just don't care for. Like I've said before if we all walked, talked, and dressed the same what a boring world this would be!!

Just because something is understated does not mean that it lacks passion or intensity. Maybe that's exactly the point , I'm not a Gospel type of guy ( Awakening ). Nope dude you are 100% correct its Gospel and he sounds to be enjoying it . This New sound ( 3 tracks i heard )is NOT for me how ever. I had difficulty grooving to the New Soul Cowboy stuff as well. I guess i was just guilty of anticipating a Deeper look into the Blues. As you know the last Cd ( UP to Zero ) Really brought back the AG fans in droves and got him fast movement and many rewards. That CD really spoke to me and i enjoyed his return to the Blues. To those who enjoy great gospel i hope i haven't offended you and you enjoy this trip . I have faith that there's a few slow Blues goodies in there for Funk & Blues Junkies... Party On and like i said , just seeing him play is reward enough ( even Gospel ;)just teasing Al

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to say that I'm super excited about the new CD. I know it's gonna be some people's favorite and others are gonna be bummed that it's not high energy blues rock. The cool thing is that we are heading back into the studio this summer to do a balls out blues rock tour de force. We have over 40 songs written! Until then, we'll have to keep it on the unplugged side. Plus, a little gospel is good for the soul. Can I get an Amen!!!!

Hi Nutz!& the rest of the Family. Having free thinking individuals in dialog about music, with AG the pivot point, is COOL! So here is my 2 cents--minus 1 cent (not yet totally free thinking due to prior commitments)haha?! Lady Soul is in a class of it's own, plucking straight into what music can do. There is just 'something' about it (intangible to me), that really clicks with me. My other favorites, in order, Love is Everything, Blues is Good, and Let's Fall in Love, seem basic & simple, yet are subtly complex and the vocals are extremely believable & up-beat! I like that! And that is good! My story & sticking to it!!! YEAYEAYEA

Everyone is entitled to their feelings about an AG CD .. I love anything AG .. his acoustic stuff better than anyone else - soulful, gospel .. awesome stuff .. however I find myself wanting to rock out to an AG blistering guitar lick so after I'm done with my Sunday morning ritual I plug in another AG CD to rock it out of my system .. usually takes about 2 different CDs - 5-6 songs .. so bring it on baby .. I'm ready for a balls out blues rock tour de force CD .. hell Ya!

In case anyone's interested, I tracked down the source of the "Before the Beginning" intro on the CD: book of Jeremiah, chapter 1, verse 5
