Ahhhhhh! Back out on the road with Anthony Gomes Band! Getting my “adventure” AND the “medicine” to go with it! HAIL YEA!
The actual road, I-80 East from Chicago was pleasant & uneventful (the way I like it). Light traffic made getting through the summer construction a breeze. The band has been cranking the Hendrix and Cream songs in the bus as they are preparing for their Hendrix/Clapton 1969 Family Arena show at the end of the month.
At soundcheck the band worked on Cream’s “White Room”, “Badge” and Jimi’s “Little Wing”. Sometimes soundchecks are even better than the shows because the boys are loose and having fun. I wish you could have heard it. Oh, Lo is me!
Tuscararwas’ Canal House welcomed the BOYS with awesome hospitality. The employees and wait staff were great, as well as the sound crew (great sound!).
The Show… The band kicked it off with “Back To The Start” and jumped into “Music Is The Medicine”. They shocked the crowd by playing “White Room” fourth. Awesome. By the next song, “One Last Time”, they had the crowd in the palm of their hands. As well as me, again. In the middle of ‘Fly Away’, they threw in a few bars of Led Zep’s “Black Dog”. How cool. If I could remember those days, ha ha! And, I was properly hooked again by the new tune
“Circles”. Wow!
There were some “Newbie’s” in the crowd that I happily welcomed into the AGB family. And, oh, how “The Family” takes care of the boys. Lovely Cheryl loaded us up with Brownies and Roger’s favorite crackers. I actually hit those cracker at the end of the night with a couple of beers. Yeah, yeah, yeah! Cheryl also did a tremendous job Street Teaming. She printed posters and flyers a few weeks prior to the show. Thank you Cheryl.
Forgive me, I must rest now, to do more work in DuBois, PA tomorrow! That’s the name of that tune.
Over and Out!
Your Conductor,
Lothar
