Hello Fellow Sinners!
I don’t know about you but I’ve been properly revivaled.
What a show! What a show! What a show! It is unanimous from the old fans as well as the new family… and me. The boys and the girls (Melva and Pinky joined the band in Springfield) were on fire. The soundman had them tuned in perfectly. Atta boy for that. Monte Lorts, the promoter of the Blues Down Under Concert series, sure knows how to set it up just right. The right stage, the right people and the right fans. Monte said it was the best AG show he has seen in the 10 years he’s been promoting Gomes. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
CD Release Party – Hail yeah! The band was relaxed and really into the crowd. That sometimes concerns me. As you know Anthony gets rough with his guitars and throws them around the stage and in the crowd. That sends shivers down my spine. So when I saw the audience bantering with AG and he ripped up the set list I thought, “I hope he doesn’t find the lighter fluid.” So many people having a good time on stage and off stage makes it what it’s all about.
I knew the night was going to be great when I heard the soundcheck. The boys played Manic Depression (which they didn’t perform at the show) and I realized that it is my favorite Jimi Hendrix song. Thanks for showing me my roots boys. I thought I had ADD but now I realize I was just a high strung SOB.
I was in the bathroom when I heard Anthony singing the Bee Gees. Are you kidding me? Am I having a flashback or did I get Disco-fied. But for real, when the band kicked into “White Room”, photo genius David Parks let me know it was his favorite song of all time. I was definitely interested in his reaction. He said that the band did it “complete justice and made it their own”… and I agree. When the band performed “Love’s Got The Power” it reminded me why we’re all here. Let’s get on board on the Love Train. The fans appreciated that AG played a lot of the old catalogue and Unity was a standout.
Thanks to new fans Deb and Shelia. And Mary for the private dances in the back room. As you know the band won’t let me dance for my safety as well as everyone else’s.
Shana was in the house properly representing as well as Karla and Larry. AG had TWO of his road Moms in attendance – Momma Margaret and Mama C. It was Hoosier Mama C’s birthday. After 10 years I finally got to know photo genius David Parks’ name. Thanks for your patience Doug, I mean Dave.
It was awesome to have some of the Super Family in the house. World Famous Margaret is at the top of the list. Thanks for bringing Shelly to help council me in the merchandise department. And the great Reverend Will – thanks for letting the Devil run!
Speaking of the Devil. It is now the Larry portion of the road report. All the good that Larry does to make my career easier can be wiped out with one security video from the hotel. You can’t smoke a Poinsettia, especially the plastic ones. I know the tour manager handbook specifically says “hear no, speak no and say no” of any after party. Thanks to Larry we are going to have to re-write the book.
Falling into windows, falling out of windows, falling randomly with or without windows present, having chocolate fights at the pool, saying inappropriate things at LOUD volumes and now stealing plants from the lobby to decorate the afterparty is unacceptable. We will schedule a special disciplinary meeting for Larry and we will keep you updated. If World Famous hadn’t crashed early, none of this would have happened. Oh, Lo is me! We’ll see you at the disciplinary meeting Margaret!!!!
May this love train keep rolling and collecting the beautiful people. See you on the road.
Over and Out!
Your Conductor,
Lothar
