I was wondering if you play mostly in standard tuning, or if you mess around with alternate tuning. For instance, Hendrix usually tuned down a half step to E Minor, as did SRV, and Leslie West to name a few. Did you tune down for the Clapton/Hendrix show? How about open tuning for slide?
Best wishes as you keep the blues alive and well,

Jerry,
I play in Eb. I made the change a few years ago when we went to a power trio format. Jimi, SRV and EVH can't be wrong. For slide, I play in open G or standard tuning.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that EVH also played in Eb. I'm going to give it a wing!......Jerry

EVH tuned up to standard when Sammy Hager (who had a higher register and range than David Lee Roth) joined. I think most guitar fans missed the fatter guitar sound.
Just to confuse things more, I played in standard tuning on the new acoustic CD. On Up 2 Zero, Darkest Before The Dawn and Fly Away were in standard tuning. Everything else was Eb.
