Hello Beautiful Family,
Here we are in wonderful Youngstown, OH. The weather is cold and cloudy (45 degrees in June) but it feels hot and sunny when the band is on stage. Larry, my co-president of LP Tour Management, is on the road with us. His lovely wife Alexa is manning the home office in Arkansas. It is always important to get road managers on the front line to see what we have to deal with and fine tune the support system. Larry has left the comforts of the Lazy Boy and after a few hours of shaking off the rust he’s good to go. We now have 3 GPS systems to help us get to our destination. I told Larry to get rid of that Garman of his. It just messes him up. I was already ahead two miles of the band bus and Larry was still programming that crazy thing.
The show was incredible. The songs that stuck out in my mind… Let’s see... “Back To The Start” was cool because they ended the song with some cool vocal wailing that I hadn’t heard them do before. Very impressive. Anthony was on fire for “One Last Time”. It really stuck out in my head, but since I don’t know myself that well I can’t explain why it was so off the hook.
Now, I’m pretty faithful to my favorite AG tunes. Out of the 30 or 40 favorites I’ve had already “Every Everybody” just got bumped down to second place by “Circles”. What an awesome intro. The middle jam blew me away. The outro was off the hook. Then it moved into Testify. It was the #@#$!!! “Circles” is officially my new favorite until further notice. For the encore, AG brought up opener Dennis Drummond and they provided some guitar pyrotechnics to “Crossroads”. I never heard a better version.
We would like to that Scott and everyone at Warehouse 50 for really taking care of us. Their hospitality was second to none and made us feel at home. Thank you very much! We had a ton of family present! It was great to see Milo, the Prince of Pan-America, in the house. He’s a cool dude and a music lover. Yeah, Milo! We had Melissa Durse representing properly wearing her vintage AG T-Shirt. She also brought Lois Jakovina into the family. Welcome to the family!!! Nice to see the street team represented. Speaking of Street Team all-stars, Lisa Tuchek invited a ton of her friends and family to the show. Thank you Lisa! Kali Levy and her better half Mr. “Now She’s Gone” were also present and awesome.
Red brought her famous brownies which are properly represented in my belly! We should be done with the Brownies by Sunday, just in time to see Red again! Hint, hint! Youngstown Sharon was in the house and I love both her and the city! Even though it was a freezing cold night in June, the people from Youngstown still came out in large numbers to support the music. That says a lot about the kind of party people they have in that fine city! They well-deserved the best that came through their town! B U T….
Just so you all don’t think that my life is all sunshine, lollypops and rainbows, I had the honor of meeting a not so beautiful person at the breakfast area in the hotel. The coffee pot was empty. When I asked the hotel lady to re-fill the coffee her indignation oozed all over me. But, the odds are still awesome in Youngstown for beautiful soul-powered people.
Look out Michigan. Larry’s driving. Here we come.
Over and Out.
Your Conductor,
Lothar
