Greetings to the lovely AG family from the Jackson Airport/Blues Fest grounds,
The first thing I gotta say is that it’s not fair to single out a few songs that stick out in my head when the WHOLE DAMSCH SHOW sticks out! Except maybe, last night’s long version of Testify which smoothly transitioned to Golden Wings – Hail yeah!!! Roger’s experimental bongo playing was inspirational. Maybe it wasn’t bongos but he played with his bands and sure made it sound like bongos. I thought I was at a Santana concert.
The one thing that Larry and I have known all along is that this music can move you. And it’s good to see that it’s moving the people too. And, how do we know this??? BECAUSE THEY TOLD US!!! The other reason we know is that the whole audience was crowding the stage ‘til the last note.
I would like to say hello “NEW FAN JOE” who came to our concert from a recommendation by Wes Jeans. Thanks Wes! Wes is a fine hellified guitar picker himself. Superfans Ken and Sue were present and ready to be Bluesified. After 7 years of knowing them, I finally remembered their names. Michigan Mama Tracy was in the house representing properly. Lovely Nashville Kathy… what can I say? Road Warrior Extraordinaire, we really MUST brush up on our communication skills. In fact, tonight in Valpo we will talk.
Oh my, the Sound Doctor did his duty running sound and lights. On a fast change-over he had the band tuned to perfection by the second song. Special thanks to sponsors Planet Fitness and O’Harrow Construction. Also, a big thank you to Cindy and Tom Fuller for their kindness and hospitality. The band was well taken care of and well fed – I love festival food. Right On! Everyone involved with the Jackson Blues Festival made us feel right at home and have adopted them into the family.
I know that Michigan has legalized Medical Marijuana but they don’t need it when AG and the band come to town. We’re back in Indiana tonight where I’ll refill my prescription for the musical medicine at the Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso. Anthony is performing acoustically with Pinky and Melva and I look forward to them lighting up the stage. Pun intended. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Over and Out.
Your Conductor,
Lothar
