Hi Y’all,
That’s the southern way of saying “You All”. I love Southern accents.
This road reports comes to you from Pine Bluff, Arkansas on July 4th. Just like the United States, I was celebrating my Freedom. I had recently delivered my final dependent, my Chihuahua aka Freedom Dog, to a good home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I am christening this “The Freedom Run”, as I celebrate America’s independence with “MY” Independence. Ohhhhh Yeah, Oh, Lo is me yee haw!
It was a great night with the beautiful setting of a great park with a view of the stage having the Arkansas River as a backdrop! There were thousands of people enjoying fishing, swimming, camping and Fireworks (both on and off the stage). What made this event even more special is that it was “Blues For A Cause” with all the profits going to people battling health issues and bringing some light in their world. This year’s recipient is Chance, who is 9 years old. The promoters also arranged for Chance to have an autographed guitar. The band signed CDs for Chance and dedicated their show to him. He is a brave young man.
This was a special weekend because both Larry and I were on board. Taking proper care of the band is a two person job. And there ain’t nobody better than Larry to get ‘er done right!
The show was high energy and the band was ready to play. “Voodoo Moon” was off the hook. The setting was perfect for the fact that we were 80 miles from Clarkesdale near the river in the delta area. The ghosts were out. Mesmerizing would be the right word. WOW for sure! “Blues In Technicolor” was back in the set after being gone for a few weeks.
Thanks to Joe Powell for organizing such a wonderful event. He really went out of his way to make sure that everything was provided for us. It is always a pleasure to play for people like this. Jim’s RV provided a welcomed Oasis for the band in the heat. Michael Freeman, a new member to the family, was present and properly baptized. Michael is a blues producer/engineer who is also an instructor at Columbia College in Chicago. Jim and Stepp came all the way from Oklahoma City to see the band. They are going to be at our ST. LOUIS BLANKET PARTY/MIXER over Labor Day Weekend. We also welcomed first timer Monica Brown to the family. Right On! All the musicians from the other bands were so cool. It was a lot of fun to meet so many kind new people. A lot of good people, making good things happen.
We would have liked to stay longer it was a 13 hour drive to the next show. The Freedom Run left Pine Bluff as the fireworks were lighting up the sky. A fitting exit for an awesome day!
Over and Out.
Your Conductor,
Lothar
