Hello Family this is mission control. Welcome to the first road report written by Larry and Lo separately. Let's compare notes...
Lothar - YES! Summertime at the Big Muddy Bluesfest in beautiful downtown St. Louis! Right by the mighty Mississippi! YES! 101 degrees, my favorite temp, but may be a little hot for some. Especially when Anthony & Company usually raise the temperature considerably as they ''Raise The Roof"! So what happens ? As the stage is being set for the 7 pm. WOW fest! The sun goes down behind the building, The temperature drops 10°, The wind increases 10 miles per, perfect summer setting , for music to be delivered to an appreciative crowd! The WOWS and cheers of appreciation rang through the crowd right from the gate! MITM & White Room early on set the pace til One Last Time and Roger's Solo in Voodoo Moon cranked the cheers to a roar! ( I like it when the "People" get it!) PS. We may have to remove Voodoo Moon from the set list as Anthony only has 6 working guitars left! Hmmmm? Strange??? It's that crazy voodoo.
Thankfully Larry and my, our Brother TONY B. was on board! 1 + 1 + 1 equaled 1 !!! But what a Grand one it was! They will surely remember Mark & Laura's Last names so we can thank them properly for the Red Carpet Welcome at the hotel & back stage! Right Larry? Once again Nashville Kathy, Supreme Road Mistress! Amazing ! I got my Kathy hug under the merch booth drenching wet! Which reminds me, the fans never got their final thrashing due to a storm rolling in 20 min. before the end of the show! And they Oooooh so deserved it! Longtime no see Dave and sister Liz finally showed again! Sweet Jill & Beck, Rhonda doing it! A special thanks to Deb from the Blues Farm for the intimate therapy session, or as she would say "Band Aide"! Hail Yea!
The after party headed to BB's where I got all my proper hugs from Karla & Larry, Miss Shelly G.B. of Chicago , and thanks to my girl Ohio Red, some unknown! And then all I remember was giving Cheryl a Birthday squeeze as the alcohol removed me from my environment! HaHa?! Yeah yeah yeah!
That's my side of the story - now it's Larry's turn...
Larry says - Good description on the "heat of the night" Lo. Anthony was getting ready to bring the top down with Testify and Voodo Child when the storm blew in--too bad! As I was passing out flyers to the large crowd (for the Sybergs show on Nov. 1st) I was impressed by the level of concentration the crowd had on the show. They knew something special was going on onstage. Oh yeah, Theo's solo was smokin'.
Special thanks to Jill's friend Deb on helping at the merch booth and passing out flyers to the VIP section. It was great to hang with my man Tony B--been way too long. Was just like old times having him backstage and helping out with tour support. My girl friend Melissa always great to hug. Also great to see James and Darlene, our Oklahoma fans.
The early show time allowed for a great after party at BBs with many fans in attendance.
I wanted to stick around Sunday to catch Walter Trout but had to head it back to the Ozarks. YYY. All I have left to say is "hit the road and catch a show". You'll be glad you did.
