Greetings to all!
Larry & Lo reporting on location from beautiful St. Louis/Ferguson!
It’s like déjà vu all over again. We’re 'Back To The Start’ baby! It’s hard to believe it's been a month since we were last here… not because we are experiencing any short term memory loss (what was I saying?) but because the weather hasn't changed a bit. But this time we had a happy ending. As we were setting up the stage, the prospect of a huge thunderstorm threatened the area. Everyone was watching radar on their cellphones and there were massive green patches on their way to us. The powers that be of the Ferguson Street Festival said that the SHOW MUST GO ON! And, Lo and behold… it went on! The storm stalled long enough to finish the whole festival, giving Anthony and the kids plenty of time to spank Ferguson properly!
And, the show! What a show. Valencia made her debut as a background vocalist who was subbing for Pinky. She did a wonderful job singing with Melva. The boys opened with a new instrumental intro that immediately got everyone’s attention. By the second tune, the tailfeathers were properly shaking . Let me tell you there sure was a lot of TAIL... feathers in the crowd as it was a packed house. Anthony's guitar work in Fly Away was 100% on fire. Smoking! The boys have really come together and the power trio sounded like 6 people. Great job Roger and Theo. By the end of the show, everyone was standing up with Circles bringing the people front row and center! Voodoo Moon is fast becoming a crowd favorite. One Last Time and Room 414 were cooking. Anthony is keeping guitar repair people in business with all the abuse. I saw a new black Stratocaster in the rack. I hope it survives.
We had lots of family in attendance! Theo's parents were in the house! We were honored to have them there. Brother Brad was nursing a bad back but hung in there to help us ‘til the very end - true trooper! Nashville Kathy, my road Mistress, was in the house. It seems that every time she comes to an outdoor show, it starts raining. She was afraid if the prediction of rain held, she might be forever banned from attending further outdoor shows. Thank God our prayers were answered. The Blues Farm girls were present with St. Louis Deb at the helm and the band was bestowed with Beautiful Banana Bread. Thank you Renee! The lovely Ischelle was still harassing me properly, thank you very much! Monte & sweet Kathy came from Springfield to party down! Monte was drinking plenty of water the next day and no alcohol. Kathy’s family was there too – Sandy and the Kamp crew. It was great to see Elizabeth. Where was Erica??? Jordan was also present and representing properly. Everyone came to the right place at the right time! It was a beautiful Indian Summer Night.
We postponed the after party until the next night. Biscuit and the Mix were performing at BBs Jazz, Blues and Soups. A lot of the family was there and it's always a treat to see Anthony jamming with Biscuit.
All we got left to say is get your butt off the couch catch a show - you deserve it! See you down the road!
Your Conductors of Rock N Roll,
Larry & Lo
