Hello to all in Anthony Gomes land,
This is Larry Larry Larry (aka L3) your tour guide of high voltage blues rock. I am flying solo as Lothar is preparing to join the snowbirds and getting ready to move to Florida for the winter. After all those wisecracks about me being in the Lazy Boy and he’s now headed to the promised land of Lazy Boys. Gotta love the Karma train. Seriously, good luck Lo and safe travels brother. We are expecting a road report from the Bradenton Blues Festival in December.
Bourbon Street Blues Club in Nashville was the first stop of the weekend. We set off bright and early Friday with a stop on the way to pick up the new “Peace Love & Loud Gutiars” T-shirts. They really rock and my suggestion is to check them out at the web store. If you are not planning to attend a show in the very near future then you better order one now as they are going fast. We sold 25 at the first show - 6 shirts before the show even started.
Speaking of the show - one word description - WOW!!!! It was a fan favorite 3 setter. The sound was off the hook. We had the General (Peter Carson) with us and the club soundman Chris graciously stepped aside and allowed Peter to do his thing. And rock he did. At one point he told Peter that "we don't usually play that loud here" and Peter’s answer was "We Do". Just look at the T-Shirt. Again, Chris was very accommodating and just a cool dude. He also does guitar teching for Steve Miller!
Anthony threw in a few surprises including a killer version of “If You Could Rule The World” and a song he tells me is called “You Gotta Let Me In (Baby Baby Baby)” and “This Broken Heart”. MITM had everyone shakin their tail feathers in spite of Anthony's temporary memory loss on the second verse. Voodoo Moon fast becoming a fan favorite - especially because of Roger's "stickless" drum solo. It is also fast becoming a favorite of guitar repairmen everywhere as Anthony is abusing the hello outta that thing. Speaking of solo's, Theo's intro to Fly Away gets better all the time. He is definitely a "player" and fun to be around. Blues IN Technicolor, One Last Time, Better Than Back and Room 414 all stick out in my head as really Rockin’. Oh yea! Third set started out with a special request for Rule the World, one of my favorite AG songs and it properly rocked the house. Testify sent them home wishing for more. What a great show!! It makes the long days and hard work worth every minute.
Our #1 road warrior, Nashville Kathy didn't have to travel far this trip but we had some others that did. The lovely Ischelle from St. Louis. surprised us with her first trip to Nashvegas, Phil from Bloomington, (Indiana that is), Dr. John (a Knuckleheads regular) from KC all were there. New Nashville resident The Bluesdog was also in the building. Who let the Dog out? Always great to see the Dog. Lovely Cecilia and David were present. Half of Dave’s family was there. Yeah, yeah, yeah! Mike Penner was in the house. Longtime Nashville supporters Mary Lane and Martha Saunders were also in the house. Jessica Farmer celebrated her belated birthday. Next time she’ll have to drag her Dad out!
The night ended with our traditional stop next door at Ricks hot dog stand for a late night snack and on to the hotel for bedtime. It's great out here on the road so get out and make a road trip to an AGB show. Anthony is starting to play some new material and road testing some songs for the new CD. Come on out and get to be the first to hear the new stuff. How about this Friday in KC for the Anthony and Biscuit reunion?
