Hey Every, Everybody.
It's L3 on the road with the BOYZ to Kansas City. Yeah yeah year!!! And when I say boys that includes not only Anthony and the Band but Biscuit and the Mix as well. I knew this was going to be a special night especially since it was being held at my favorite blues club on the "planet", Knuckleheads. Thanks to Frank and Mary Hicks for making this happen.
We arrived at the club @ 5pm for load in and sound check and was greeted by the clubs' soundman, Pete Seiger. Pete rocks it and is always super accomadating to the band. I could tell it was gonna be a Rockin night as Anthony soundchecked with his new song Peace, Love and Loud Guitars Wait till you hear this one.
So head back to hotel to check in and freshen up and guess what room Anthony is given? 414!!! Another sign of some good voodoo in the air!!! Quick showers and change then back to the club to catch end of Biscuits' show. Walked into a packed club and B had them dancin'. And let me tell you they danced all night Long as Gomes and company were slammin' them with "high voltage blues rock". How's this for starters--Star Spangled Banner a la "Woodstock" style, Testify, Room 414, Medicine, and One Last Time. Right into Technicolor and the new rocker Peace Love and Loud Guitars. We also had a new smokin' version of Painted Horse (a song I used to dislike but now is properly played). Throw in some Voodoo Moon and Fly Away and oh yea how about Circles, which to me is the new Testify when it comes to people getting up and jumping around--Yeah Yeah Yeah! It was an exciting set for sure Break time and then back for the Final set--a jam session. And crazy it was. At one time I counted 10 people on stage. It was really fun for the large crowd that stuck around.
So great to see a lot of familiar faces. Some travelers there like Jim (homeboy) and Amy from Columbus, Bill and Rockstar Shaun McKee, Margaret and Melissa from our favorite VFW in Strafford, Mo. and let's not forget the Reverand Will who's always ready to keep the party Rockin. Locals World Famous Margaret, Karla and Larry , and Steve Anthony Conn. It was a great family gathering along with some newbies. The merch booth rocked all night. Sold 14 shirts before the show even started. Speaking of shirts--better get your Peace Love and Loud Guitar shirt soon as they are selling like crazy.
We packed it up and headed back to the hotel for the afterparty and a proper one it was. No, it wasn't Room 414. Thank you Steve for being the host and allowing us to trash your room. We had no trouble finding it as Biscuit left a trail of popcorn from the lobby to the elevator and to the room. At one point I counted over 20 in the room with people coming and going. I finally left at 5am--O Lo is me--I wasn't the last man standing at this one. Speaking of Lo, you are certainly missed out here by all. Enjoy the warm weather my brother. We're taking bets on how long you can stay off the road. Don't get too comfortable in that Lazy Boy! --YYY. Results will be reported later.
All I have left to say is what a great time !! Get out and get a dose of the music because it is the Medicine.
See you down the road,
L3
