Road to the rising Sun!
Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine
Even though Delaware seems to have only one highway, it was a pleasant uneventful ride to Jonathans Landing. From St. Louis to Delaware there were open Highways and aside from a million potholes we arrive with no problem'os.
All was good after the music machine of AGB delivered their Arsch (German for Ass) Kicking medicine to the deserving people of Delaware! Ken doing great on the sound board, making it easy and comfortable for Anthony, Fred and Theo to deliver their medicine (p.s. if this were 1981 it would have been illegal to smuggle these guys across state lines! Right Jerry?! yeeee ha!
Super Fan Kari from the great land of Finns was in 'da' house. WOW! Making my 500 mile road trips seem like a walk in the park! Thankfully he remembered Anthony's love of Finnish cider and chocolate! Thanks Kari.
But Delaware to Manchester Connecticut! Ohhhhhhh Lo is me! The sun must have blinded me for I chose the Washington bridge route through New York! I would blame it on Larry but he was not on this run! The GPS did not tell me the 5 hr. trip would take 8 & 1/2 hrs. and almost 100 dollars in tolls!
Anthony had to use half of Kari's chocolate to settle me down! Thanks again Karri! When we got to The Hungry Tiger, Anthony had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel with one of Fred's old drum sticks. Thanks Anthony! It took a whole bottle of Windex to clean the blood sweat and tears off the wheel! Oh me oh my! Being as Larry was not on this run, I'd like to thank Anthony again for the fine co-piloting and reminding me of Larry with that fine U-Turn and wrong hotel! Hey, as long as the show goes on, on time, a little comedic interlude...Yeayeayea!
Well, we arrived at the Hungry Tiger in time, to the house of 'road warriors'. 'Family' coming from all points for their Arsch kicking!
A special thanks to Stevie D. from New Joisey (hope I got the accent right!) for listening with sympathetic ear to my moaning & crying about my bad decisions through NY!
I Finally got to know Jerry and Ava, who prove not all white people can't dance! And thanks to lovely Daniel for reminding me that I know her from way-back in my Nashville days! Yes! Thanks to the sweet Bar Girl (can't remember her name...yet!) and Don for getting me home with my after meds.(Heineken)!
Ahhh, a nice 3 min. ride to the 'right' hotel for a good nights rest for the grueling, haha, 90 min. trip to the great Chan's! Disclaimer hear...I am not a food guy.....Chan's absolutely has the best food I have had, + ( the salmon from Hugh's in Toronto) ,add the great 'music' room, and appreciative fans, it was a total 'Arsch Blasting' night!!!
THE SHOW WAS SOLD OUT!!! It was hard to accept that some of our fans couldn't get in.
Thanks to Karen for wearing her 'colors' and not being offended by my lack of memory. Glad to see 'Every Show At Chans' Roy, Cape Cod Bob (who has enjoyed Anthony's Kickings since like '96 in Canada)! , Daniele doing it right with 2 in a row!
And a special paragraph for Super,Super Fan Jeff, wearing my favorite colors (peace Love Loud Guitars) bringing his cool son Evan and 34, that's right!, 34 new people who were properly Initiated into the Gomes Family! Hail Yea! That's what I be talking 'bout!
With the great sound system at Chan's, and his Ma, Kathy watching over him, Justin had no trouble keeping the medicine flowing at super high octane!!! Good job Justin!
I have to thank 2 in-a-row Jerry for his 'enlightening' outlook at the Chan's after-party! I'm still reeling with laughter!
Then it's off to the 'Blues Maine-E-Acks' in beautiful Rockland Maine. Awesome Paul Ben-Jam-In welcoming us with open arms and a little local comedy, makes for a relaxed, enjoyable beginning, (as well as Lisa and Scott's home-grown cookies) before the Maine Spanking kicks In! I think the Mayor's wife was in the house too! Great to see my family A...Aa...Aaaa...Al and my former assistant Missey!
And Daniel doing 3 in a row! Must be cashing in her good Karma!
And thank you Carol and Friend for understanding my slow name up-take.
Every show in Maine Michelle Rockin & Smiling all night long! A special thanks yo the sweetheart from Montreal for helping me dare to be a rebel! Can't remember her name due to my French accent-deafness!
And of course Street Teamers Extraordinaire The Fette Connection with that cool bumper sticker the Sprinter is now proudly wearing! Thanks!
My man Murph and lovely Amy, wonderful hanging with you at the show and cool, and cold, after party on the roof! You guys are the greatest! And hey!, it was actually as nice as Florida .... In JANUARY !!!
Then an early start for the 22 hour ride back home to 'Louie'.
The road was good to us as we passed three traffic jams the opposite direction! A few hours in the hotel the first night, and a few short hours to the main Pitt-Stop, Tony B's, Yeayeayea !!! Then a nice balanced, relaxed jump on the home stretch!
In closing, Wow, Wow,Wow!!!
What an Adventure ! Get READY! 'Cause here we come to-------
Kansas City, Kansas City here We Come!
