Hello Forum Family,
We took the Road to the Castle, Bloomington Illinois... 'Grand Central' for the 'Music is the Medicine' organization!
Thanks Mark Cortesi for bringing AG and the guys and making the show and MITM happen! Brian on the sound handling 3 bands with flawless change-overs and getting the mix right! Awesome! Thanks to Nichole and her crew for a smooth night.
I must mention, one of Anthony's little brothers, Sean McKee who opened the show with his band Keys Trucking Company. A guitar prodigy with the same magic 'touch' on the strings as Anthony.
18 years of age out of Chicago with his first gig! It's so cool to see him learn the lessons of the road. Here are a few nuggets of experience he gained this weekend...
(1) always leave a little early for the traffic jam on I 55
(2) be patient with your road crew (Bill and Pops McKee)! These guys sure remind me of Larry & Lo in the beginning, loading in with a guitar in one hand, beer in the other, nowhere in sight for the load-out, perfect recipe for chaos and forgetting! Not bad though as they only lost a bass guitar!
Again thanks to Mark for his diligent detective work and finding it with Gnu Kung Fu, the other cool band on stage tonight! An honest mistake as all non 7 string bass guitars look alike! Haha!
The only thing that seemed to be missing with the Bill & Pops Management team is the BANANA BREAD! (Inside joke)
Thanks Don for reintroducing yourself to me and understanding, I think I'll remember you next time! Sweet hugs from Angie my Angel, and Karen! I almost didn't recognize lovely Bren glowing with child-to-be! Great people, great night!
And a GREAT show! AGB shows are off the hook in theaters! High energy, with top quality sound makes for a pleasant exhaustion, as does the 25 minute encore! It just don't get 'no better'!
What made the night so special is that we had AG band Alumni in the house. Roberto played bass with Shawn's band and it was fantastic to see his smiling face. And Blaze, who lives in Bloomington, was off the road and came by to hang with the band. Great times!!
After the show we headed out for a little nightcap at the bar across the way with the great Blaze and some funny shop talk, makes for the whole package of 'what it's all about'!
May I be the first to wish Anthony a Happy Birthday on his road to the Bash at Syberg's! He is in good hands with Larry!
Get ready world, to be properly BLUESIFIED!!! Yeayeayea
