Road to the Land of Lincoln!
Welcome to the AGB Illinois Fireworks Storm, starting at the television studios of WGN ! Oh Yea! Chicago! Bozo! Larry, Robin, Pat, Paul & Skilling!
Doing the noon blurb to announce the upcoming shows with B.B. King gave the boys a chance to show their 'stuff' on camera, in a top notch studio. An excellent operation they have at WGN. We were well cared for and treated like family, and surrounded by true professionals! And...the studio team of Craig, Bob and Lothar, no, not me, another Lothar were on IT! Letting the boys shine with their great sound and camera work!
PS... Being as he is the first other Lothar I have EVER met, and he seems so center, hard working, intelligent....are all Lothars?...enough ego puffing, back to the road report.
A short hop from WGN to the Coronado Theater in Rockford to open for one of Anthony's biggest influences, the great BB King! Oh Yeah! Blasting the sonic fireworks to a packed house, the Boys initiated throngs of Newbies to the AGB Family! Welcome in kids! I did not see the show, as the merch booth was in the hallway, but this is where the welcoming ceremony was held with AG signing CDs & shirts and posing for pics!
Awful good to see Sister Amanda after so many years! Which reminds me to remind everyone - that you all deserve Road Trips. And remember anything under 90 minutes is not a road trip. In Chicago it's across town, in New York it's over the bridge!
The furthest traveled award goes to a couple of Kiwi's (slang for person from New Zealand) who are doing it right! Getting hooked in Nashville, then doing it in Rockford! Right On! These guys saw AG in Nashville 7 years ago. They booked a trip back to Bourbon Street Blues from New Zealand to see him last week and then made a last minute stop to the BB King show in Rockford. A - Effen - mazing!
Superfan Scott claiming to be the oldest AGB Fan out here, discovering the 'EVENT' way back in 1995! That beats Cape Cod Bob by one year! Anyone that beats Scott better have pictures of Anthony loading in from his bicycle!
A short 'skip-to-ma-lou' to the Rialto Theater in Joliet. An awesome theater if you are into Decor and architecture, and music done right! Big boss Marissa keeping everything running smooth on the main floor and Ma Kathy taking exceptional care of the bands back stage! Thanks Ma!
And Superfan Don And his entourage from Peoria being super understanding with my name problem! Great seeing you!
And hearing BB play 'The Thrill Is Gone' to a cheering audience, AGB slammin us with the new blues groove, I know the Thrill ain't gone! Far from it! We'd like to give a big thanks to Don and Tom from Nitelite Promotions for making sure the boys were well looked after.
Another smooth ride to a beautiful summer afternoon outdoor gig at the Broken Oar in Port Barrington. Yes, summer IS here! Nichole taking just as good care of us as Ma Kathy did! Oh the benefits of this career! Thanks Nichole!
Scott and Barb back for another show, brothers Jay and Jeff in the house! Another Scott, newbie superfan promising to spread the word to deserving friends and family! Welcome Scott!
As we wrapped up the Illinois world win fireworks display, I left the BOYS in the very good care of Mr. & Mrs. Tim! My short jump & skip home to Hoosier-ville, a little rest, and realization I may have left them in Tooo Good of hands, as I have not heard from the boys since!!!
Yeayeayea!
Get ready! The next run will have both me and Larry in charge of rock n roll rebellion. June 6th starts the Larry and Lo Show featuring the ANTHONY GOMES BAND EXPLOSION !!!
Your Conductor,
Lothar
