Roads to Springfield Missouri - Jackson Michigan - Ottawa IL!
Oh yeah! The 'Million Mile Man' (Anthony Gomes) chalking up the miles on this run! FYI: Larry and I have cipher'd that Anthony has logged well over a million highway miles since his guitar led him out of Toronto!
Here's an example of how that has happened ...
Friday - St. Louis to Springfield 216 miles, play for the people 10:10 showtime, pack up and leave immediately after the show.
Saturday - 1:00 am, Springfield to Jackson 696 miles, play for the people at 7:30 pm.
Sunday, Jackson to Ottawa 258 miles, 3:30 showtime.
Monday - A short skip back to 'Louie' 236 miles.
You must add a few miles for U-Turns and dead-ends (yes, this WAS the Larry & Lo run!) bringing the grand total to 1,406 mi. on this run! To put it in perspective the 3 shows were performed within a 42 hour time period with 24 of the hours being straight driving. 5 hours were left for performing, 6 hours for set up/tear down. That leaves 7 hours in 3 days for sleeping and hell raising.
YES! What a pleasure it is to be part of the Music Explosion Caravan of Anthony, Fred and Theo! Bringing 'IT' to the people and being part of the welcoming committee into the 'Family' is the 'TOPS' (tops-slang for S..T)!
Springfield welcoming us properly by stopping the rain 6 hrs. before show time! Stage manager Don's excellent care for us, and AGB blasting the deserving crowd with musical magic, was a great beginning to a Festive run! The great Monty Lorts in the house and still standing! Probably due to his awesome caretaker Kathy! Yeayeayea! Thanks to Dan Allen for bringing us to town!
No time for rest as the Silver Bullet (Mercedes Sprinter) tears a path up the blues highway to Jackson, Michigan. The 'Awesome Effort Award' must go to my Road Mamma, Nashville Kathy! She broke down somewhere in the middle of Indiana on her pilgrimage from Nashville to her home town! Ohhh the road tales she can give! Everyone was bummed out that you couldn't make the show.
(Kathy if you are reading this, please skip the next couple of paragraphs) What a show! What a show! I would have hated to miss this one. The packed crowd got a gooood dose of the medicine! Bill and Sean McKee getting there safely from Chicago. Ken and Sue sponsoring newbie Rockin Robin into the 'Family'! It is always good for a new-be to be sponsored in, as these shows may be too shocking for virgin ears!
Sweet Sister Angie needs no sponsor as she was there...Before The Beginning! She needs sun tan lotion...on her FEET! Michigan in June! Who needs Florida! Right Angie?!
Speaking of Fla., I may have lost my dear friend Steve Henley to the dangerous side effects of 'Snow-Birding'! Rumor is, he missed the show to go fishing! This is the fist step! Then it's the Lazy Boy in front of the boob tube. Then the bib & diapers! Wheel of Fortune Marathons. Then the drool cup. Steve! Contact me, we need to talk before it's too late!
Thankfully Julie survived the Florida winter! The cheese lady gift card was just fine! And lovely Ohio Red taking care the boys with those fine brownies! And crackers for Lo. Thanks Cheryl! Toledo Jeff rocking it all night, front row center! Nice hat!!!
Then right back on the road to Ottawa. Kevin and his crew running a smooth operation! Excellent weather and ambiance - sunshine, jazz and wine. I just love the side effects of an AGB show...audience participation, cheers of appreciation, and the awestruck look on the chosen ones! Some of the not so pleasant side effects are the broken drumsticks, bloodstained bass strings, and a giant crack down the back of the Yellow Strat! Kevin got up and sang some with the band. Off the hook!!!
PS- Anthony ain't no Ella Fitzgerald, but, he's been hitting some real High notes lately!
Brother Bill McKee making 2 in a row and joining lovely Shannon and friend and Larry and Lo to make the best tour management co. In the world! Thanks kids!
Get ready kids, the million mile band is on the loose and coming to get you!!! Yeayeayea!!!
Welcome to the Future,
Lo
