Roads to Nashville and St. Louis
Nashville, YES! My gateway to country, welcoming Anthony Gomes Band with open arms. This weekend was extra crazy with 70,000 people in town for an NRA convention and pit was also prom night! Look out Nashville here we come. There were no hotel rooms within 100 miles so we had to stay in Kentucky but the warm welcome at Bourbon Street Blues Club made it all worth it!
Anthony, Fred and Theo delivering Anthony's latest 'Masterpiece', 'Electric Field Holler', Loud, Live, and Steamrolling a new path of blues rock to the south! Looks like the packed house 'gets' it! My sweet Home Girl Kathy will back me on that. Also, Randal McCarthur, who I almost know now?!? The purveyor of my most memorable adventure, EVER, T.C. In da house! Right On! Anthony was really stoked to see Shaun Murphy stop by. Shaun was the lead singer in Little Feat and sings background for Bob Seger and Eric Clapton. Next time she will have to sit in!
We also had Malcolm Hare, the past owner of Bourbon Street, celebrating his birthday. Jamie Frey, who used to work with AG and Malcolm was there for the music in a night that came full circle. It was my favorite New Yorkers (silent 'R's), Carol and Mike, first time not together, as Mike is recuperating from heart surgery! We wish you the best Mike! It was fantastic to see Martha "Miss Darkest Before The Dawn" Saunders, Mary Lane and her crew, Jessica Farmer and all the people my short term memory loss has caused me to forget. Only a few weeks earlier we lost two Bourbon Street Blues Alumni, Mama Jean Neal and Dustan Chaisson. The boys dedicated the show to their memory.
A steady 4 hours toasting & roasting of the fine folks of Nashville, then homeward bound, back to the gateway to the west, good ole 'Louie! Syberg's, right on! How lucky the people of St. Louis can be, hometown to Chuck Berry, AND, Anthony Gomes Band! Ha! Almost worth settling there for a few! Not in the cards though, as my 'Honeymoon Cottage' in Mountain Home is calling me!
We had Thunder and Lightning working the sound and lights! When the band kicked in the first tune it was like a bomb of sonic blissfulness being dropped on the unsuspecting crowd. We had the lovely Tenea roadtrip from Chicago! She reconnected with the band last month after a 10 year sabbatical and the music got her to hit the road! We had some members of the band Hurricane Ruth stop by which was awesome! It was 'Blues Farm' Deb's birthday and I had to partake in the celebration. WARNING - Partying and rocking with the 'Louie locals may have risked my career, as the Heinikens flowed! (I blame it all on Anthony for doing that wild stuff up there on the stage!) but Deb and lovely Renee will vouch for me on that! Thanks Kacey and Eric for understanding my misunderstandings.
Now listen up Larry Wortman! There's a cool guy, John from P.A.W. Stoppers, who has volunteered to cover for you when the recliner sticks in the prone position! I'm only a-gonna give you like 10 more awols, and Johns application will be sent up to the big Boss!
Now, the anticipation rising, way past Zero, for the Treasure Lake and Double Slam At Cha Cha Chan's!!!
Yeayeayea!
