Road to Michigan.
3 Gigs. 24 hours.
The Silver Eagle streaks across Illinois & Indiana for a safe landing in Kalamazoo, to start the MMMM...I'm not humming. Acronym for Music Monster's Michigan Madness Marathon! Madness, as defined here-intense excitement or enthusiasm.
Kalamazoo, home to Gibson guitars, welcoming Anthony (packing his trusty Les Paul and Fenders), Fred and Theo to start the 3 shows in 24 hours Blasting! That's right! I always say, "These guys really WANT to play!" And they grabbed this opportunity to fly!
And what a welcome! Beautiful summer night, outdoors, tables with gas fire-places, fire works in the distance, and the 'ole full moon again! Perfect backdrop to the fire-works on the stage!
Kalamazoo is also home to the sweetest of all, Angie! Her excitement and enthusiasm, very contagious, especially when Anthony Gomes Band in Da House, makes her my #1 Michigan Love! The AG Posse was well represented with my legal eagle Cyndi, sweet and lovely as ever, awesome Ken and Sue enjoying, and the great Carfields finally catching the Boys again! And my favorite Kalamazoo love-birds, Steve and Julie grooving all night long! Right On!
A short glide to Hillsdale the next day to kick off their Checker Records Annual Street Dance. And Kick it, the Boys DID! A gorgeous sunny day, in the 80's, with fire raining down from the stage! Just what a deserving crowd at great musical event gets when Anthony, Fred and Theo unpack their 'Torches'! I had the pleasure of meeting local Street-Teamer Extraordinaire Mike M. doing it right and spreading the word! Thanks Mike! Thank you Hillsdale and Checker Records for making us feel at home and releasing the 'Silver Eagle' , fully fed and reloaded for the hop and skip to Grand Rapids!
The Mad Blasting of Kalamazoo & Hillsdale really, really, REALLY peaked here in Grand Rapids! AWESOME is the word! I was awestruck, the magic coming from the stage was beyond awesome, but hey, how to describe the indescribable ! Anthony's guitars were wild! He kept his golden grip on them, letting loose flurries of amazing music! Supported by my favorite Music Monsters, Fred and Theo! Fred's ability to slam and beat those skins, so ferociously, and still make it sound musical...here is that 'Awesome' word again! Thanks Fred! Theo, frightens the *%£€ out of me, due to my PCSS (post childhood stress syndrome)! I haven't seen spankings like he gave that bass guitar since my formative years (always deserving mind you)! OUCH!
Oh yeah, a special shout out to Ken and Sue getting their 2 out of 3 proper slamming in Grand Rapids! I finally got my long awaited, proper hugs from my Grand Rapids Love, Shawn! Yeah yeah yeah! And a special thanks to Bill and Shaun McKee for stepping up to make this 3 show Slam-Fest on time and smooth, and making LP3 the Best in the Tour industry! Yes! The great Carfields getting their 2 out of 3 in Grand Rapids! Most deserving!
Thankfully my refusal to live in the past (or my inability to remember it) demands that I get me more! The blessed Canadian Homies get theirs next! My professional recommendation is to get all we can, when we can, as often as we can!
Larry Can You Hear Me! (as sung to the Who's, Tommy) HaHa!
Peace, Love Ya All, and the Loud Guitars!!!
